Group travel specialist, Ticket2Ride Global Adventures has announced a tour to New Zealand’s largest and most popular car festival.
To be run in March, 2022, T2R’s Repco Beach Hop 2022 Tour will give Australian car, hot rod and street machine enthusiasts the opportunity to experience a very special, featured-packed event that draws Kiwis and overseas visitors in their hordes to Whangamata on the spectacular and picturesque Coromandel Peninsula, south of Auckland.
“We’re going to keep it relatively simple for next year, taking advantage of the current Australia-NZ travel bubble to give car enthusiasts the opportunity to experience Repco Beach Hop and also explore all the natural features of the North Island,” said Chris Beattie, founder and managing director of Ticket2Ride.
“Our intention is actually to establish the tour as an annual event and we’re aiming to begin taking cars over as early as 2023, so that enthusiasts can really join in all the great activities that the Beach Hop has to offer,” he said.
Repco Beach Hop chief, Noddy Watts, who was recently the recipient of one of his country’s highest honours, the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the event, said he is enthusiastic about welcoming Australians to next year’s Repco Beach Hop.
“I know our Aussie friends always come off second fiddle to the mighty All Blacks as far as trans-Tasman sporting contests go, but I’m really looking forward to having them at the Repco Beach Hop in 2022,” he said. “We’ll be doing all we can to make them feel welcome and I know Chris and Ticket2Ride will ensure they make the most of their visit to New Zealand.”
For 2022, Chris said tour members will be set up with campervans on arrival and following an official tour reception hosted by a ‘mystery guest’ will drive 160km south-east of Auckland to Whangamata, the home of the Repco Beach Hop. The campervans will be allocated a special parking area close to all major events and tour members will have access to special courtesy vehicles throughout Beach Hop to ensure they have easy access to all the events on offer.
“After the Hop tour members will have a week to free-range around the North Island and check out all the incredible natural attractions, from volcanoes to beaches and the spectacular Auckland Harbour and the Bay of Islands,” said Chris.
The tour will run from March 21 to April 4, 2022.
