Who am I?

"My name is Yolande Hobby. I'm 33 years of age and a mother of two young children. I live in Mornington and work part time as a hospitality trainer."

Tell me about your hospitality experience?

"After completing 3 years of Hospitality Management training, and my experience of working for various venues in Melbourne including The Windsor Hotel, and the Novotel, I travelled to Sydney to work in the Ritz Carlton Hotel. It was here I realised my passion for education and joined a private hotel school in Sydney. I was here for 6 years first working in placing students in a 9 month work experience program where I was able to fly to Queensland to visit them and stay in the fabulous hotels where they worked! I then also worked in Marketing where I travelled locally and abroad to tell students all about our Hotel school. It was an amazing opportunity and really shows you can end up doing amazing things within this industry."

What's the best thing about working in hospitality?

"People! I love to be around them! I'm energised by other people, and it's cool to be where people are happy!"

Why did you decide to take up training in the hospitality industry?

"I was a trainer for a large recruitment company, but it's nice to come back to my roots. I studied and worked in this industry for years, so it very exciting to be able to train students in an industry that I'm really real passionate about."

What do you love about Ticket2Ride?

"I love that I can impart valuable hospitality knowledge to students by teaching them from my experience. They are ahead of the game before they have even started!"
